China Shop (single)

jendan New trip-hop/electronic duo Daemon & Airdrie makes a strong showing with its debut tune. Both artists were previously in the folk trio Dirty Grace, but they've now created an indie electronic sound that draws from the dream-pop, trip-hop, and folk genres.
"China Shop" is a starkly haunting slow burner with dual, reflective vocals that float and intertwine amid reverb electronic tings, spare, echoed guitar lines, and crisp finger clicks. Spellbinding.

J.Smo With it's minimal but impactful soundscape, China Shop is fragile like the fine dining ware on display in homes and shops all over the world. Imagine shelves with raw emotion on display. Daemon & Aridrie guide us through a gentle but longing aural experience which navigates the ebb and flow of love, lust and desire. The result is as haunting as it is seductive.

lyrics

Make me a china shop so I will learn how to be
With the most delicate parts you offer me
And I am sorry that I turn everything
Into my own game - into my own win.

And you have got me grievin'
For all I'll never be
For all I've never been

Make me a telescope so I will never be a part
From your most tiny bits in your deep crater star heart
Or make me an air balloon so I'll always float above
That great murky mud of our precious needy love

And you have got me grievin'
For all I'll never be
For all I've never been
I wanna be your paper
I wanna feel your brush on my skin

Make me an armor impervious to steel
If I never have to feel then I'll never have to heal
Or make me a casket so I could just get it over with
And die into this excavating pleasure that you give

I wanna be your paper
I wanna feel your brush on my skin
